Couple recent cybersecurity updates

1. CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) with collaborators have issued an updated advisory on Play Ransomware, also known as Playcrypt. The goal is to help organizations protect against ransomware
Recommended mitigations include:
-Implementing multifactor authentication;
-Maintaining offline data backups;
-Developing and testing a recovery plan; and
-Keeping all operating systems, software, and firmware updated.
2. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released an update to its incident response guidance: Special Publication 800-61 Rev3. This new version, titled “Incident Response Recommendations and Considerations for Cybersecurity Risk Management". The main goal of this publication is to help organizations manage cybersecurity incidents as part of their overall risk management, not just react to them, but plan for them in a smart, structured way. This means proactively identifying and managing cybersecurity risks throughout a device's entire lifecycle, from design and development to post-market surveillance and decommissioning. The guidance stresses the importance of a well-defined, documented, and practical incident response plan, a critical component of regulatory compliance and patient safety.
